SENDING ARTWORK ON DISC OR BY EMAIL
If an image is to be sent
from one computer to another whether it is via disk (ZIP,
CD, Floppy), ISDN or email several points should be considered;
All the machines used in the
production of the cards are apple macs therefore any info
should be compatible with the apple macintosh. When saving
the file as an image it should be saved as far as possible
in keeping with the following parameters:
The image should be saved
in a program compatible with Adobe Photoshop 3 or 5.
The format of the image should be as a TIFF, EPS or JPEG.
The resolution of the image
should be no less than 225dpi and the image should be no
smaller than that required on the finished card.
When saving the image in colour it should be saved if possible
in CMYK Mode (the four process colours), please note that
if we have to shift modes on our own computers the final
printed matter may not match that on a customers computer.
In the case of an image containing
layers, all layers should be flattened before sending. Please
note that where an image is printed on a paper specific
to a colour printer the image may not match that printed
on a conventional paper or card (in some cases the colours
from a computer printer are unrealistic and too vibrant)
In the case of layouts using a layout program:
All our layouts are done in QuarkXpress.
Any document should be done in a compatible format to Quark.
All relevant fonts/images should be included.
A printed copy if possible should accompany any order to
show layout etc.
Any colours saved in Quark
should appear as process colour and not spot colour (please
note the colour shift in colours such as pantone colours
when saved as a process colour).
We cannot be held responsible
for colour shifts from one mode to another.
You may send your image via
e-mail to sales@thepostcardcompany.com but we must also
receive a hard copy in the post to colour match incase there's
colour variations from one computer to another. All our
computers are calibrated to our printing press therefore
may not be the same as what you are viewing on your screen.
We also recommend you send hard copy of the reverse to check
layout.
No responsibility will be
accepted for colour reproduction or layout from disk/e-mail
unless supplied with a Match print of front and reverse
sides.
